"We rewarded ourselves with a dinner at the Inn at Kristofer's, where the sunny dining room, the warm rolls
with basil butter and the piano player soon had us relaxing. The salmon in champagne sauce, chicken
marsala, and view of the Sister Bay Marina didn't hurrt, either. "

"The Inn at Kristofer's takes an unusual approach in working with cherries. Chef Milligan creates a chilled cherry soup that includes Pinot Noir wine and a lemon buttermilk sorbet infused with fresh mint. "

"Best Dinner" St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The sun was setting over the marina at Sister Bay in the Door County Peninsula when we sat down for dinner at Kristofer's. The dining room was bathed in orange and pink colors and the shades kept going up as the sun went down. Was it the ambience or the appetizer of warm brie topped with a hot mixture of cherries, apples and berries cooked in brandy that made this my most memorable dinner for 2002?

"As the sun sets on the Door County village of Sister Bay, WIsconsin, patrons dining at the Inn at Kristofer's turn from their plates to look across the marina, where cotton-candy clouds dissolve into glowing orange, pink and purple wisps - a colorful climax to a glorious summer day. Inside, glowing candles and recessed lights cast a soft focus, while an attentive server presents individual warm chocolate cakes to the couple seated by a window. The establishment combines great food with great views and ranks as one of our reader's (Midwest Living Magazine) favorite eating spots."

"Running a "fine dining" restaurant in a place like Door County is a ticklish proposition. More precisely, it's a balancing act. The atmosphere should be stylish but relaxing - not intimidating. In other words, the service should hew to correctness without lapsing into stuffy formality. And in deference to the broad range of tastes that the resort - area clientele brings to the table, the food has to be imaginatively conceived, skillfully prepared and artfully presented. Blessed with an enviable location across from the village marina in Sister Bay, the Inn at Kristofer's walks this fine line with verve and confidence. Since it opened in 1994, Kristofer's has become northern Door's destination of choice of consistently innovative, consistently inspired cuisine."

"Sister Bay means New Zealand mussels in saffron sauce, followed by crabmeat stuffed local whitefish, accompanied by a perfect sunset over the marina and a pianist playing perfect songs at The Inn at Kristofer's. It will be the best in a week of memorable Door County meals."

Milligan promotes the same cooking philosophy in her classes as she does at The Inn at Kristofer's. The use of Midwest products and simple, elegant presentations are combined with special touches such as edible flower garnishes and in-class culinary quizzes, complete with prizes for high-scorers."

"Sometimes a restaurant doesn't just please. It enchants. When I took the advice of a friend and made reservations for Saturday dinner at the Inn at Kristofer's in Sister Bay, I expected the food would be good. I didn't expect to enjoy beautiful dishes - each carefully arranged and decorated with pansy blossoms and nasturtium petals - while listening to dreamy flamenco guitar and watching a sunset over the water more beautiful than any seascape I've seen in the best art museums."
